There has been a lot of speculation about Brock Lesnar's future after WrestleMania 31 amid rumors that the WWE World Heavyweight Champion wants to return to UFC.

Lesnar, who retired from UFC in 2011 due to a bout with diverticulitis, is under contract through the March 30 episode of Monday Night RAW on the night after WrestleMania 31.

Beyond that, it is unknown what the former UFC Heavyweight Champion will do, but there were rumors that a bidding war may begin between the WWE, UFC and Bellator MMA for "The Beast's" services.

While Lesnar may be interested in making a return to UFC, former WWE announcer and Hall of Famer Jim Ross took to his blog on Jrsbarbq.com to share that some sources believe Lesnar will remain in the safer environment of the WWE by signing another part-time contract.

"Sources are saying that it looks more promising that Brock Lesnar could well stay with WWE past WrestleMania due to concerns over long term health [effects] of competing in MMA specifically concussion oriented issues later in one's life," Ross wrote.

"Again, these are 'sources' and how reliable they are can only be judged after WM31 and following the status of the former UFC Heavyweight Champion. One thing is certain, if UFC believes, and rightfully so in my view, that CM Punk will sell PPV's for at least his first two fights then what would a healthy Brock Lesnar mean to the UFC brand in a time where no combat sport company has a plethora of bona fide star power that can move the needle on the pay per view business."

Lesnar has had quite a year in the WWE as he ended The Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania XXX last year and went on to dominate John Cena at SummerSlam to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Lesnar has been champion since August, but he's only appeared at the Night of Champions event in September, the Royal Rumble special in January and sporadic episodes of RAW due to the nature of his pact.

"The Beast" is expected to drop the belt to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 at Levi's Stadium in California, but it may not be his last bout with the company.

Reigns is expected to win his match with Daniel Bryan this Sunday at Fastlane to remain the No. 1 contender for Lesnar's gold.

Speaking of Fastlane, Ross also gave his opinion on the upcoming United States Championship match between Rusev and John Cena this Sunday night.

"Getting lots of questions here and tweets regarding my thoughts on the Cena vs. Rusev match at [Fastlane] for the formerly coveted United States Title," he wrote. "In the big picture, Cena doesn't need the US Title to be the [superstar] that he is but Cena successfully winning and defending the US Title would certainly put a shine on the somewhat tarnished title. On the other hand, Rusev is far from where he will eventually be if he continues to evolve and develop his personation with Lana and an undefeated Rusev intrigues me. When Rusev is pinned or submitted it needs to mean something, be featured and have a great back story. So, with all that said, I'd consider having Rusev cheat to win in Memphis and have Cena win at 'Mania OR be bold enough to have the burly villain retain at WM31 and build the rivalry until [SummerSlam] where Cena wins after his chase which in itself makes the US Title have more equity."

WWE Fastlane takes place live this Sunday from the FedEx Forum in Memphis.
