Despite another arrest just last week, Cincinnati Bengals star Adam “Pacman” Jones is slated to speak to NFL rookies at an upcoming lifestyle symposium.
NFL vice president of player engagement and former NFL player Troy Vincent told the Cincinnati Enquirer Jones’ talk to first-year players last season made such a major impact on players who found it authentic he thought it best to have him return.
"You are not going to trick an athlete. They know when it is dressed up and not real," Vincent told the newspaper. "When you can sit among your peers and just talk about your life, someone is learning from that. They can look at him and see themselves from the way they look to where they have originated."
The symposium will be held June 23-29 in Aurora, Ohio. Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett has said he also is on the list of speakers at the event.
Jones, 29, was accused earlier this month of striking a 34-year-old woman at a downtown nightclub. His agent, Peter Schaffer, has since told ESPN his client was approached by two intoxicated women who wanted to have their picture taken with him. When Jones refused, one of the women threw a beer bottle at him and Jones responded by allegedly slapping her.
Surveillance video of the altercation appears to show Jones approaching two seated women outside the club. Then, a third woman approaches Jones and appears to confront him. The grainy video shows the woman reach toward Jones' face, but it's unclear what she does or whether she's holding anything in her hand.
Jones then appears to hit the woman, who falls to the ground but quickly gets up and follows Jones off-camera as another man with him ushers him away. Jones' most recent troubles are not the first time he has been on the wrong side of the law.
In 2012, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct after being accused of shouting profanities and trying to pull away as police attempted to apprehend him. Later in the year, he was ordered to pay $11 million in damages to two Las Vegas strip club employees injured in 2007 shooting involving his entourage where a club manager was paralyzed.
