From the moment the final whistle blew during the Indianapolis Colts-Denver Broncos game, countless words have been spent discussing the Broncos, the team's future, and the legacy of star quarterback Peyton Manning.

More People Demanding Peyton Manning Takes Pay Cut

It did not take long before those legacy discussions turned to debates about whether or not Manning would retire, particularly after his noncommittal comments immediately following the loss. But eventually, rumors started emerging that Manning wanted to return and had begun to work out again.

Of course, when it became apparent that Manning does in fact want to play at least one more season, then people were discussing whether it is even the right move for Denver to bring him back. Some have suggested that Manning cannot play well enough to lead the team to a Super Bowl, whereas others are suggesting that he simply makes too much money to be useful to the team.

Aaron Rodgers Popping The Question Soon?

Those in the "he gets paid too much" camp immediately began campaigning for Manning to take a drastic pay cut. One person who is decidedly in that corner is ESPN analyst Skip Bayless, who is known for making inflammatory statements without regard to their merit, and he did not disappoint when he spoke about Manning's salary.

But nowadays, whenever you make a crazy statement, somebody on the internet catches it, and if sports fans are lucky, that person is also someone who knows what they are talking about. That is exactly what happened when CBS's Doug Gottlieb jumped all over Bayless' ridiculous comments.

Gottlieb is a former ESPN employee, so he no doubt understands that Bayless usually speaks without regard for truth or common sense, but it was still nice to see him troll his former co-worker for making one of his patented outrageous claims.
