Pit Bull Pup Chews Off Sleeping Owners Toes

A Brazilian pit bull owner remains hospitalized after awaking to find his six-month-old pup had devoured at least two of his toes.

Roger Brown, 46.told local TV station WTHI he accepted complete responsibility for the bizarre incident by putting his beloved pooch in the position of having to view his exposed flesh wound throughout the night.

Brown told police he awoke just before dawn to find his dog, Bo, still gnawing on his left foot and his small pinky toe and left big toe already missing. A diabetic, who’s also disabled, Brown added the dog had also eaten away a good chuck of the upper half of the same foot.

Besides shouldering the bulk of the blame, Brown told the TV station he had decided not to euthanize the animal and instead would continue raising and nurturing his beloved young pet. On the night in question, Brown told authorities he made the mistake of not fully wrapping a flesh wound or blister on his foot and clearly exposing it to the ravenous animal.

He pointed out that up until then, he had been sure to tightly wrap his wounds and never had experience any problems with his pet.

Bo, at least temporarily, is now being held under close observation for any sign of rabies or other illness.
