Adrien "The Problem" Broner is intent on becoming the top fighter in the junior welterweight division, and as of right now that road has to go through Danny "Swift" Garcia. Though the two are admittedly friends, and have both given reasons why they shouldn't fight, Broner is now changing his tune.

"I know me and Danny Garcia will one day Clash heads when the time is Right. I AM A FIGHTER AND TO BE THE BEST YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THE BEST," Broner posted on Instagram.

Both fighters have upcoming bouts on adviser Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions Series. Broner is the co-feature on the series' first NBC broadcast, and he will be fighting John Molina Jr. on March 7. In April, Garcia will battle Lamont Peterson, but despite both men holding 140-pound titles, the bout will take place at a catch weight with no belts on the line.

Questions abound about how long Garcia will remain a junior welterweight, as this is his second straight non-title fight above 140 pounds. His mandatory challenger should he get past Peterson is Viktor Postol, a tall, unbeaten fighter who was paid to step aside so Garcia could take on a higher profile opponent.

While Postol is a highly rated contender and has an unbeaten record, he has little name value and wouldn't do much for Garcia's standing in the public consciousness. Garcia's openly discussed his plan to slowly work up to welterweight, and it isn't likely he will be at 140 pounds long enough for Broner to get a shot.

If Broner and Garcia do fight, it will likely be down the road at 147 pounds, where Broner has already won a belt by beating Paulie Malignaggi. Broner has also discussed a rematch with Marcos Maidana, who handed him his first career loss; Maidana also is still fighting at welterweight.
