Eagles Jason Peters Arrested: Left Tackle In 100 MPH Chase With Police, Booked For Drag Racing

Jason Peters, the oft-injured mammoth left tackle of the Philadelphia Eagles is accused of drag racing at 4:45 a.m., and when spotted by police, attempting to flee and engaging in a high-speed chase.

According to reports, Peters was seen driving a white Chevrolet Camaro in the wee hours of Wednesday morning next to another driver in a blue sedan. When the traffic light they were at turned green, the pair were spotted racing one another by police. The police flashed their sirens and the blue sedan pulled over, but Peters fled.

The police report states Peters sped in excess of 100 miles an hour, before eventually ending the chase by pulling over into the parking lot of a mall. Once pulled over, Peters obeyed officers' orders to step out of his car. He was arrested and charged with drag racing as well as resisting arrest by flight.

Peters, a six feet, four inch, 328 lb. offensive lineman, is a five-time Pro Bowler, and was selected as an NFL First Team All-Pro in 2011, remarkable success for a player who was undrafted. The Arkansas product was a college tight end, whose propensity for pancake blocks led him to work out as on offensive lineman and switch positions.

Aside from his 2011 First Team All-Pro selection, he is a three-time Second Team All-Pro selection, earning the honor in 2007, 2008 and 2010. Peters missed the entire 2012 season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in March while working out in the offseason. Peters ruptured it again in May of 2012 in his own home.

The Eagles released a statement concerning Peters that read: "We are aware of the reports that Jason Peters was arrested this morning in Louisiana. We have been in contact with Jason, and due to the legal nature of this matter, we will not have any further comment at this point."
