Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman became a father this morning when his girlfriend, Ashley Moss, gave birth to a baby boy. There was speculation last weekend that the child may arrive during the Super Bowl, and Sherman had stated that, while he was definitely playing, he was prepared to head to the hospital in uniform if necessary.

But things worked out for Sherman (as far as the baby is concerned, anyway), and now he already has somebody that he can call if he needs a babysitter for his child. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was among the first to congratulate Sherman, and he also volunteered his services as a babysitter.

You might expect that one of Sherman's fellow members of the Legion of Boom would be the first to reach out and volunteer to watch their teammate's kid, but Wilson beat them to the punch today.

Of course, the Legion of Boom is so banged up right now that they may need to tend to their own medical issues before babysitting becomes an option. Safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor will likely both require surgery, and Sherman himself may also need to go under the knife.

Still, it is a happy day for Sherman, and it is good to see his teammate has his back. And watching Sherman's kid will give Wilson a chance to practice handing off.
