Phil Mickelson, chasing a title in his hometown event, the Farmers Insurance Open, spoke to the press about the short-game woes currently plaguing one Tiger Woods. The three-time Masters winner believes it won't be long before a resurgent Tiger emerges.

"I think that Tiger's going to have the last laugh,'' Mickelson said after the pro-am at Torrey Pines (via ESPN). "I think that his short game, historically, is one of the best of all time. I think his golf game is probably the best of all the time."

Woods missed a majority of 2014 due to a major back surgery. It showed at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, with the 39-year-old shooting a career-worst 82 in Round 2 of the tournament.

"The short game, when you haven't played, it's the first thing to feel uncomfortable and the quickest thing to get back," Mickelson added. "I don't think he's going to have any problems, I really don't. We all, myself included, have had stretches where we feel a little uncomfortable. We don't hit it solid, and usually it's just a small tweak because it's such a short swing. It's not a hard thing to fix. I just don't see that lasting more than a week or two.''

Jordan Spieth, currently ranked No. 9 in the world, echoed Mickelson's sentiments.

"Give him a month and he'll be back to where he's consistent and he's playing holes and he's shooting good scores," Spieth said (via USA Today). "At the same time, to get back to winning majors, it takes an unimaginable number of reps."

"I don't know how long that will take Tiger," he added. "It could be like riding a bike for him versus every other player in the world needing a career."

Woods is participating at the Farmers Insurance Open, teeing early on Thursday.
