JFK Airport Guards Caught Dozing On The Job

At least two JFK Airport security guards have been recently photographed while napping on the job, according to the New York Post.

The Post reported they were tipped off to the dangerous practice by Stephen Jackson, a former manager of FJC Security, which employs about 300 airport security guards. JFK has been the target of at least one attempted terror plot since 911.

“It was a regular occurrence finding the guards sleeping,” Jackson told The Post. An ex-Marine, the newspaper said he began working for the company in August 2011 and quickly rose to the rank of supervisor. The Post reported he claims he was fired last month amid a “campaign of harassment over everything from his whistle-blowing to his being Hispanic.”

Jackson said he typically supervised a staff of 58 to 65 guards paid an average of just over $17 an hour with benefits, but claims he frequently caught about six of them napping on the job.

The guards he captured in cellphone video and passed on to The Post have been identified as Suhas Harite, 68, and Tiana Jackson.

“FJC guards should do their napping at home, not on the job.” Port Authority spokesperson Lisa MacSpadden told The Post. On Friday, PA announced it had banned the pictured workers from working at all their facilities.
