Troubled NFL defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones has run afoul of the law once again, this time being charged with hitting a woman in Cincinnati, according to reports. He was arrested on Monday and arraigned on an assault rap.

Jones proclaimed his innocence on Twitter, saying, "Just got arrested for protecting myself. I will not let this break me or change what I have work so hard for." Jones' agent, Peter Schaffer, said his client was acting in self defense, hitting the woman only after she chucked a beer bottle at his head during the June 5th incident. Surveillance footage shows the assault victim, Shannon Wesley, 34, pouring beer on Jones prior to being hit.

According to Schaffer, the incident began when Jones was approached by two women seeking a photo with him. He declined, "because he's married and the last thing he wants is a picture with two women showing up on Twitter or something."

Then, according to Jones' story, he was hit with a bottle immediately after saying no to the two women. "He turns around and immediately slaps the person. He has no idea what's going on or who threw the bottle," Schaffer said. "His teammates have enough of this and they walk out."

Jones has been involved in off the field legal trouble three times since 2010, including this new fiasco. In 2010 he was arrested following a traffic stop in which police later admitted he'd done nothing wrong. In 2011, he was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

The trouble didn't begin in 2010, however. In 2007 Jones was part of an altercation in a strip club, in which he showered an exotic dancer with money but became upset when she tried to take the money. Jones allegedly slammed her head on the floor. According to USA Today he's been arrested seven times since entering the NFL, and been involved in a dozen incidents in which police were called.
