Johnny Manziel told his critics that he was going to take his job "more seriously" in 2015 than he had in his rookie season, and the 22-year-old took a big step toward that effort on Monday.
Johnny Football Reflects on His Rookie Season
Reports from ESPN indicate that the Cleveland Browns quarterback has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility on Monday morning. Manizel's advisor Brad Beckworth confirmed the rumors.
"Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the offseason was the right time to take this step," Beckworth said in a statement, via ESPN. "On behalf of Johnny and his family, we're asking for privacy until he rejoins the team in Cleveland."

The former Heisman Trophy winner was drafted by Cleveland to much fanfare during the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. However, Manziel's rookie season was an unmitigated disaster. He struggled with his preparations for the quarterback role, and finished the season with just 175 passing yards, 0 touchdowns, and two interceptions in two starts.
Manziel was also at the center of multiple personal PR disasters. He was involved in a late night brawl with a Browns fan in November, and in December he reportedly played hookie from a mandatory team walk-through after having through a party the night before.
