Today at 1 p.m. ET, the St. Louis Blues (31-13-4, 66 points) and Washington Capitals (25-14-10, 60 points) face-off for the second and final time this season live from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. St. Louis has won four straight games and closes out a two-match road trip while Washington has lost five of its last six contests as it kicks off a two-game home stand.

The Blues enter play in second place in the Central Division while the Capitals have an eight point lead over the Florida Panthers for the second and final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The first time these two teams met, St. Louis topped Washington 4-1 on Nov. 15.

The Blues are coming off of a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday and will have their dads on the trip.

Vladimir Tarasenko has paced St. Louis with 24 goals and 48 points thus far this season. Alex Steen (15 tallies, 25 helpers) and Kevin Shattenkirk (eight goals, 32 assists) are tied for second on the Blues with 40 points on the campaign.

The Capitals are coming off of a 1-0 shutout loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday and will have a quick turn around this afternoon on national television.

Nicklas Backstrom has led Washington this season with 50 points off of 15 goals and 35 assists, which ranks him tied for fourth in the league. Alex Ovechkin paces the Capitals and is tied for the NHL lead with 29 goals and is second on the team with 45 points while John Carlson has found the twine five times and added 30 helpers for 35 points.

In net, Washington's probable starter is Braden Holtby and he is 23-10-9 with a 2.22 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. Justin Peters could also get the start in the second game of a back-to-back..

St. Louis is likely to counter with Brian Elliot and he is 14-5-2 while leading the NHL with a 1.95 GAA and ranking tied for fourth in the league with a .927 save percentage.
