Octomom Welfare Fraud Case Update: Feds Seize Finance Records

The bank records of Nadya “Octomom” Suleman have been seized by federal officials as part of an ongoing welfare fraud investigation, TMZ reported.

Federal officials also took possession of various other documents after they obtained a court-issued search warrant allowing them to pour over both her financial and employment records. The L.A. County Dept. of Welfare Fraud Prevention and Investigation began investigating Suleman in 2012 after receiving a tip she was collecting welfare even though she had grossed more than $200,000 in yearly earnings.

According to TMZ, the warrant targets 21 different locations, including Suleman’s home and the officer of her manager. The web site added Suleman and her 14 kids would only be eligible for benefits if she earned less than $119,000 in a calendar year.

Suleman, 37, became a public fixture after giving birth to octuplets in January 2009. After going on off welfare for a little more than five months in 2012, Suleman returned to the rolls early this year after being injured. At the time, she was granted benefits of $1,800 a month for food and $1,000 in emergency cash.

Soon thereafter, she began working as a stripper and was able to again leave the system.
If now convicted, she could face up to three years in prison.
