Too little, too late? The WWE has acknowledged a groundswell of support for a Daniel Bryan vs. Dolph Ziggler match at WrestleMania 31 and posted an article on the company's website about possibly putting the bout on at the behest of the WWE Universe.

WWE SmackDown Live Results From Thursday

The company may have put aside the fact that its fans wanted to see Bryan win the Royal Rumble Match and go on to meet WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar in the main event of the "Show of Shows," but it's acknowledging the Bryan vs. Ziggler demand.

Ziggler and Bryan have been campaigning for a match against each other at WrestleMania 31 on Twitter and WWE.com picked up the story.

Hulk Hogan Wants One Final Match At WWE WrestleMania 31

"The WWE Universe has already used their influence to reshape one WrestleMania, and the 2010 Champion vs. Champion bout between Bryan and Ziggler is widely accepted as a modern classic," the site writes.

"A groundswell of fan support could make the rematch a reality, especially since Ziggler has yet to truly have his moment in the sun to steal The Show of Shows (his last four 'Mania bouts have been a Mixed Tag, a 12-Man Tag, a WWE Tag Team Title Match and a spot in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal), a fact that probably doesn't sit well with the passionate fan base that chants "Let's go Ziggler" during every one of his matches. Seeing these two do what they do best would make every Superstar following their match, including Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, work even harder."

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the WWE has been planning on a Ziggler vs. Bryan match and likely started the social media banter between the two themselves.

While this would likely be a classic encounter, it's also a smart strategy on the part of the WWE to try and deflect the negative publicity it received for pushing Roman Reigns to win the Rumble and get into the main event at WrestleMania.

There were rumors that Sheamus was set to return as a heel and set up a program with Bryan leading to a WrestleMania 31 bout between the two. It would have marked the third time the two Superstars clashed at WrestleMania.

Sheamus and Bryan fought to a no-contest in a Lumberjack Match for the United States Championship at WrestleMania XXVII in 2011 and then the "Celtic Warrior" topped Bryan at WrestleMania XXVIII in 2012 in 18 seconds to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the opening bout.

Ziggler started off the banter between the two on Twitter earlier this week.

"Yo DB, I was pulling for you, brother, but if you really want to steal the show at #Wrestlemania Im here & angrier #RAW," Ziggler wrote.

Bryan simply replied, "I'm in!" but things continued to escalate as the week went on.

Bryan vs. Ziggler would join Triple H vs. Sting, John Cena vs. Rusev, Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker (if he returns) and another big battle royal as the rumored bouts for WrestleMania 31.

As of this week, Reigns vs. Lesnar is the only promoted match thus far for the card, but Triple H teased on SmackDown that a change may come with a major announcement on RAW.

"The Showoff" may battle "The Beard" at the biggest show of the year when WrestleMania 31 goes live on March 29 from Levi's Stadium in California.
