Allen Iverson News: Former NBA Star Owes $40,000 In Unpaid Child Support, Ex-Wife Wants Him Jailed

TMZ is reporting former NBA star Allen Iverson owes at least $40,000 in unpaid child support to his ex-wife and mother of his five children and she is asking an Atlanta judge to have him thrown in jail until he pays up.

According to TMZ, at the time of his early 2013 divorce from Tawanna Iverson, the one-time perennial all-star was ordered to pay $8,000 a month in support and admonished as a “drunken, parent” by the presiding judge. Tawanna Iverson now maintains since that court appearance her ex-husband hasn’t made a single payment.

TMZ adds Tawanna Iverson has now filed paperwork that has the couple appearing back before the same judge sometime this week.

Iverson, who during his January court appearance admitted for all to hear that he is broke and has indeed somehow managed to burn through the estimated $300 million he made during his playing days, also complained of not having enough money to buy a cheeseburger.

During this week’s proceedings, it’s not even known if The Answer will even have representation. Jonathan Levin e, his former attorney, also recently filed a lien against him claiming he had racked up more than $60,000 in unpaid fees.

Even more recently, Iverson’s one-time Atlanta mansion was sold off in a foreclosure auction stemming from his default on a $1.2 million mortgage for the $4.5 million home. TMZ reports the home was eventually purchased by Iverson’s bank for $2.5 million.
