Tonight at 8 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Penguins (27-12-8, 62 points) and Washington Capitals (24-14-9, 57 points) face-off for the second of four meetings against each other live from the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. Pittsburgh has dropped four of its last five matches while Washington is on a four-game losing streak entering tonight.

The Penguins enter play in second place in the Metropolitan Division while the Capitals are currently holding onto the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The first time these two teams played, Washington blanked Pittsburgh 3-0 on Dec. 27.

The Penguins enter play off of a 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday to enter the second half and they may have captain Sidney Crosby back in the lineup.

"It's just one of those things where it's day-to-day and I'll see how I feel tomorrow," Crosby said on Tuesday via NHL.com.

Crosby is tied for second in the NHL with 36 assists. Crosby and Malkin are tied for fourth in the NHL and lead the Penguins with 51 points.

The Capitals are coming off of a 4-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday and enter this game reeling.

"We all need to be better," Capitals forward Brooks Laich told NHL.com. "We need to be better. I wake up this morning frustrated, didn't sleep well last night after the loss. But to wake up this morning, say we've got the Pittsburgh Penguins in our barn tonight, Rivalry Night, 8 o'clock game, team that we're trying to chase, team that we don't like, here we go. We've got a hockey game to play and a hockey game to win. There should be a lot of energy, a lot of intensity in the building tonight."

Nicklas Backstrom is is fourth in the NHL with 38 assists and leads Washington with 48 points. Captain Alex Ovechkin is second in the league with 27 goals and second on the Capitals with 43 points.

In net, Washington is likely to turn to Braden Holtby and he is 22-10-8 with a 2.31 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage.

Pittsburgh is set to counter with Marc-Andre Fleury and he is 22-9-5 with a 2.31 GAA and a .921 save percentage and leads the NHL with six shutouts.
