Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET a highly anticipated card featuring battle for the No. 1 contender slot for the UFC's light heavyweight title will take place on Fox. Current no. 1 contender Alexander Gustafsson will take on No. 3 ranked Anthony "Rumble" Johnson with the winner likely receiving a shot at Jon "Bones" Jones' championship. Preliminary fights will begin at 5:00 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1 and can be live streamed here, while the fans can check out the early prelims at 4:00 p.m. by clicking here.
Gustafsson is very focused on the difficult fight in front of him, keeping his opinions of Jones' victory over Daniel Cormier short.
He did what he needed to do to win that fight," Gustafsson told ESPN.com. "It was a good fight, but I'm going to fight Anthony Johnson now. After that, we'll see what happens."
Gustafsson was in line for a rematch with Jones after giving the champ the toughest fight of his career at UFC 165. An injury in camp forced him out of the shot, and Cormier got it instead. Gustafsson is favored to get the win, but Rumble Johnson shouldn't be taken lightly.
"[Johnson] is a very powerful guy. He's like a train coming at you. I have to be on my toes and be prepared, and I will be. It's going to be an exciting fight, I can't wait to fight him," Gustafsson said.
Johnson is on a roll, winning eight straight fights, five of them by KO or TKO. The biggest of those wins was a unanimous decision over Phil "Mr. Wonderful" Davis, another contender who will be fighting on this UFC Fight Night undercard.
Prediction: Alexander Gustafsson is skilled and tough, but wilts against the brute strength of Johnson. Rumble wears him down and wins a difficult, but clear unanimous decision.
