It's been well-publicized that LeBron took a trip down to Miami earlier this month while taking a break from the Cavaliers due to injury.

Reports from ESPN on Friday now indicate that that trip wasn't just a vacation. Apparently James was also using his time in South Beach to meet with one Ray Allen, the semi-retired shooting guard and LeBron's former teammate with the Heat.

Although Allen hasn't played in the NBA since June 2014, the league's all-time leader in three pointers made is said to be in top shape and looking to join a playoff contender sometime after the All Star break next month.

The Cavs could really use Allen's services. The team is currently 23-20 and in the middle of the pack of the Eastern Conference playoff race. Allen's three point shooting wouldn't just be a major scoring contribution -- his leadership and the respect he commands from younger players would be a great balm for a locker room that's experienced quite a bit of turmoil this season.

Allen is a two-time NBA champ, having won a ring with the Celtics in 2008 and another with LeBron and the Heat in 2013.
