The New York Knicks are in the midst of one of the worst seasons in franchise history, but they have won back-to-back games for the first time since their second and third games of the season. The team still has the worst record in the league, and some have suggested that the team should try to lose in order to get the best possible draft pick.

Tanking has become a prominent issue around the NBA because of the Philadelphia 76ers, who are in the middle of a multi-year rebuilding program that so far has focused on actively avoiding adding productive players to their roster in order to accrue the highest possible draft picks.
Regardless of what the Sixers are doing, Carmelo Anthony does not think that tanking is something the Knicks should do, according to ESPN. "I don't know how to have that mindset," Anthony said after the Knicks beat Philadelphia on Wednesday night.
"Having that mindset as a basketball player, as a competitor, it's just hard to do unless you don't care about the game, what happens and your performance," he continued. "To say that we're going to go out there and we want to lose a basketball game, I think that's a bad mentality to have."

The Knicks currently have the worst record in the league at 7-36, and they are heading toward a three-way race with the worst record in the league with Philadelphia and Minnesota. The team that finishes with the worst record will have a 25 percent chance at winning the first overall pick in the NBA's draft lottery.
Anthony missed several games over the last few weeks because of knee soreness, but he has played in two straight games, and he scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Wednesday night. "I think the most important thing is just a matter of how much work I've been able to put in with my overall body these two weeks," Anthony said before the game. "So that's kind of what's getting me through right now, not having to compensate my knee, and everything else is feeling good."
Anthony still may elect to have surgery, which will end his season if it happens. He has also said that he thinks that surgery "will be his only option" at some point.
