AJ Lee was set to return to action at this weekend's WWE live events from her home state of New Jersey, but the three-time WWE Divas Champion has since been pulled from the appearances.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Lee has been taken off the live events in New Jersey leaving an appearance at the Royal Rumble this Sunday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia very doubtful.

Lee has been out of action to heal up injuries, but she was slated to return this weekend until swiftly being pulled by the WWE. Lee is believed to be out healing a neck injury and when a fan asked her on Twitter if she was close to 100 percent, the Diva replied, "nope."

Lee was backstage at Monday Night RAW this past week which seemed to indicate that she was prepared to return, but that is no longer the case.

The WWE wrote Lee out of storylines during her match with Nikki Bella last month at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs (and stairs). Bella defeated Lee to retain her Divas Championship by "blinding" her with hairspray and Lee hasn't been seen since.

There were rumors heading into TLC and Survivor Series in November that Lee may be gearing up to leave the WWE in order to spend more time with her husband, former WWE Superstar-turned-UFC fighter CM Punk.

Lee shot down rumors that she was pregnant on Twitter, noting she "likes her abs" too much to think about having a child with Punk right now.

There has been speculation that there is heat on Lee backstage for her being by her husband CM Punk's side when he signed with UFC last month at UFC 181.

Punk walked out on the WWE last year and then blasted the organization on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast before signing with UFC. His first fight is expected to be in about six months in late 2015.

Lee was by Punk's side in Las Vegas and she also had a controversial speech at last month's Slammy Awards edition of RAW where she blasted the Divas in her acceptance speech, which also put her in the company's doghouse.

Though Punk left the WWE almost a year ago, Lee has remained with the organization despite her ties to him.

Lee took time off from April-June to move in with Punk and the two tied the knot over the summer. Lee then returned on the final RAW of June 2014 in a surprising comeback and won the Divas Championship from Paige before eventually dropping it to Bella.

Punk said on his podcast that he received his termination papers in the mail from the WWE on his wedding day to Lee and that he will never have a working relationship with them again.

It's uncertain when Lee will be back in a WWE ring, but it won't be this weekend.
