The Golden State Warriors' improved defense will be tested tonight against Harden, who erupted for 45 points in his last game, a blowout of the Indiana Pacers on Monday. He has carried the Rockets while center Dwight Howard has dealt with injuries, and hasn't slowed since Howard's returned.

"He's playing at an elite level that few players get to," rockets coach Kevin McHale said. "He's really playing well and we've put a lot of responsibility on him."

He has averaged 27.1 points, 6.7 assists and 5.6 rebounds this season while improving his defense from a season ago in which YouTube videos of his lapses flooded the internet. He's especially motivated to stop Golden State's "Splash Bros." to avoid an embarrassing season sweep.

"The beat us three times already so it's a good opportunity on national TV to go out there and play against the No. 1, No. 2 team in the league right now," Harden said.

Golden State has ridden good defense, elite shooting and a lack of worry over who gets the stats on any given night said head coach Steve Kerr.

"This is so unique to have a group pull for each other that exhibits the selflessness where, from one night to the next, somebody isn't going to get a lot of points or a lot of shots," Kerr said. "And it doesn't seem to bother them."
