The Washington Wizards have still had trouble selling out the Verizon Center despite being one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. The team trails only the Atlanta Hawks in the East, and they are off to their best start since the franchise last went to the NBA finals in 1977-78.

Still, because of the trouble they have had generating interest for the franchise, the team hired star rapper Wale - a Washington D.C. native - to become a "creative liaison" for the franchise. His job is basically to make it more fun to attend Wizards games, and he gets to promote his own career in the process, allowing both sides to benefit from the partnership.

According to ESPN, Wale has some big ambitions for the Wizards, including redesigning the uniforms. "I want to be a shot in the arm to DC basketball," said Wale. "My job is to provide a spark, at all costs."

He then revealed his partner on the uniform project. "I'm talking to Kanye about designing new uniforms," he said. "I want to create the 'Lake Show,' create what the Bulls had.

"I want to take the personality of our stars - John, Otto, Marcin - and create what Kemp and Payton had, what LeBron and D-Wade had.

"Even if you're coming to the game for the wrong reasons, like trying to win a pair of shoes or something, I want you into it."

Wale is certainly aiming high. And getting Kanye involved will certainly drive the conversation, if nothing else. Of course, probably the biggest thing that Washington could do to improve attendance and league-wide interest in the team is to lure area native Kevin Durant to come play in Washington when he is a free agent following the 2015-16 season.
