If Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn’t happen fans won’t be able to blame Pacquiao himself for a lack of effort. He has been working his keyboard to the bone trying to goad Mayweather into the ring, recently tweeting how “easy” it would be to hand him his first loss.

ESPN reported that Pacquiao and Top Rank have already signed a contract to face Mayweather on May 2 in Las Vegas, and are awaiting “Money” to put his name on it as well. Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz doesn’t think Mayweather is simply dragging his feet though—he believes the fight isn’t happening.

“I truly don’t believe that Floyd is going to step up to the plate and fight us because he doesn’t give two s**ts about his fans,” Koncz told RingTV.com. “We’re not going to sit around waiting for him. We haven’t closed the door on it, but we’re not going to sit around waiting, so we’re looking at other options.”

One of those options is Amir Khan, whom Koncz named specifically.

“That includes Amir. I’ve spoken to Amir on a couple of occasions, and Golden Boy has talked to him, too, I talked to Amir directly before [Golden Boy Promotions President] Oscar [De La Hoya] and [Top Rank CEO] Bob [Arum] got involved. We’re not going to sit around with our hands up our butts.”

Khan was chirping recently about staging a fight vs. Pacquiao in Dubai, and while that’s likely a long way from being finalized, it seems more likely than Mayweather-Pacquiao. Recent breakdowns in talks between Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto have fueled speculation that Mayweather vs. Cotto II is in the works for Cotto’s WBC middleweight title.
