Super-agent Drew Rosenhaus has responded to his firing by suing former client DeSean Jackson amid claims the Philadelphia Eagles star receiver owes him upward of $400,000 in unpaid loans.
Jackson fired Rosenhaus last month amid rumors he plans to sign with the Roc Nation Sports agency founded by rap mogul Jay-Z earlier this year. Philly.com reports Jackson has a rap label and is convinced an alliance with Jay-Z could be a boom for the business.
Before any of that can happen, Rosenhaus is bent on getting back every cent of the nearly half-million he claims he is owed and only loaned to Jackson to help him overcome ongoing financial shortcomings. Jackson inked a five-year, $51 million dollar deal with the Eagles last season with at least $15 million guaranteed.
Rosenhaus maintains he loaned Jackson the money between 2009 and early 2012, a time when Jackson openly complained about his deal and loudly sought to have it restructured. As mandated by league policy, Jackson must now wait at least five days after he files paperwork with league officials before he can officially sign with another agency.
Though Roc Nation is now being investigated over claims of violating some of the league’s “runner” rules, it’s been quite the start for the upstart agency. The firm has already inked deals with Giants wideout Victor Cruz, Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith and New York Yankees all-star infielder Robinson Cano.
