It would be an understatement to say that the Cleveland Cavaliers' season has not gone as planned. The team has struggled for virtually the entire season, there are many questions about the quality and depth of the roster, and there appears to be a real disconnect between the team and the head coach.

Kobe Will Shut It Down If Asked

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the team at one point was discussing the idea of firing Blatt in order to try and salvage the season. The move certainly would have lent credence to the idea that LeBron James is the one that calls all of the shots within the organization.

Instead, the front office refused to budge and backed up Blatt both publicly and to the players. Blatt has also rejected the notion that he is not in control of the players in the locker room, saying, "That's a lot of nonsense. I think it's kind of cheap to be honest."

Now, it appears that the Cavs are once again on the path toward success. The team has played with energy and effort on both ends of the floor over the last week, and players are doing the little things that successful teams do like playing through injuries and making "unglamorous" plays like taking charges.

The team is still not where they want to be, and there are serious concerns that the team will not be good enough defensively to win a championship. But for now, at least, it appears that things are trending upward in Cleveland and David Blatt's job is safe.
