The Denver Broncos have seen an impressive amount of upheaval in the week following their season-ending loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The personnel moves are all the more surprising considering the outstanding success the team has had over the past few seasons.

Head coach John Fox was fired by the team following the loss. Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio has agreed to become the head coach of the Oakland Raiders. The moves were not entirely unexpected, as Denver is very clearly in "Super Bowl or bust" mode. It now appears that offensive coordinator Adam Gase is close to leaving also.

Gase's departure does not come as a huge surprise, as new coach Gary Kubiak would likely want to bring in his own choice for offensive coordinator. According to CBS Sports, Gase is close to accepting the offensive coordinator job with either the Jacksonville Jaguars or the Baltimore Ravens. It was actually Kubiak who held the Ravens job before he became the head man in Denver.

Peyton Manning Returning, Says DeMarcus Ware

The biggest impact on Gase's departure could be the effect it has on Peyton Manning. The star quarterback is reportedly considering retirement, and having his offensive coordinator leave could drastically affect his decision.

Rumors had emerged previously that Manning may try and follow Gase if the coordinator had been selected as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, but it seems unlikely that Manning would want to follow Gase to Jacksonville or Baltimore.

Reports have also emerged that Manning does not have a lot of close friends within the Denver locker room and that Gase was the person on the team that he was closest to. The Broncos have a number of potential free agents, and if Gase's departure influences Manning to retire, it could start a domino effect that could encourage many of the Denver players to test free agency rather than re-signing with the team.
