Kimbo Slice was parlayed his internet fame into a contract with UFC. That was short-lived, however, as Slice had little success during his time in the organization. Now, it appears that Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, is going to get another chance to make his mark in the world of mixed martial arts.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Slice has officially agreed to join Bellator MMA. Bellator is the main rival to UFC in the mixed martial arts world, and they have been looking for ways to expand their foothold in the sport.

The organization has made some headway, and some former UFC fighters have even defected to Bellator. UFC may even be making moves specifically aimed at generating headlines, which would be a sure sign that they think Bellator has staying power.

The lastest such move by UFC would be the signing of Phil "CM Punk" Brooks, who has no professional MMA experience. Bellator may have signed Slice in response to UFC's move in order to generate some headlines of their own.

Slice's return is expected to be officially announced on Friday night during the Bellator 132 broadcast on Spike TV.

Slice has six MMA fights on his resume, and he has been fighting lower-level boxing matches since leaving UFC. He has compiled a 7-0 record in his boxing matches.

There is still no word on when Slice will make his Bellator debut or who his first opponent will be, perhaps because the organization has its hands full trying to lure heavyweight Brock Lesnar back to the MMA world once his contract with the WWE ends in March.
