John Wayne once said “A man's got to have a code, a creed to live by.” Those are words Baton Rouge resident and LSU football fan Fletcher Sanders has taken to heart.

Sanders told Baton Rouge officials that he would rather go to jail than snitch on an LSU football player in a recent police investigation, and he held true to his word.

Sanders first landed on the cops' radar when he was discovered to be selling some game-worn LSU cleats and gloves on eBay. NCAA athletes are prohibited from selling or giving away their apparel.

The police pressured Sanders to reveal the name of the player who provided him the mechandise, but Sanders remained quiet and took the jail time instead. He's currently out on $3,000 bail after being charged with counts of principal to theft and possession of stolen things, according to The Advocate.

“Do what you have to do,” Sanders said, according to the report. “I am not going to be responsible for ruining someone’s career.”

The Baton Rouge police department told The Advocate that their investigation into the matter is still on-going. Officials are treating the case like an isolated incident, rather than something endemic to the entire LSU football program.
