The Cleveland Cavaliers have struggled all season, and one of the many faces representing their dysfunction is Kevin Love's. The power forward came to Cleveland via a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but so far, his first season has not exactly gone as planned.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the salary cap will probably prevent Cleveland from signing Love to a long-term extension this summer. Once the season is over, Love will almost certainly opt out of his current contract. He, along with several other prominent free agents, will probably sign a one-year deal so that he can be a free agent again in 2016, when the salary cap is expected to jump by as much as $20 million.

Love has said that he plans to re-sign with the team and spoken about being committed to the organization, but he may just be putting on a face for the media so that fans and others around the league do not realize that there may be some dysfunction within the locker room.

For their part, the Cavaliers are insistent that Love will be with the organization for a long time, although many continue to believe that Love will strongly consider signing with the Los Angeles Lakers after he opts out of his deal with the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers have fallen to 19-19 on the season after it seemed like they had righted the ship a few weeks ago. They are a mess on the defensive end of the floor, and it has only gotten worse since Anderson Varejao went down with an injury. Love is averaging just 17.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per game this season, which are a drastic decline from his averages of 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds last year with Minnesota.
