The New York Mets look to sweep the New York Yankees for the first time in four years and post a perfect record for the season against their crosstown rivals with Thursday night's interleague matchup at Yankee Stadium. Following a pair of close wins against the Yankees on Monday and Tuesday, the Mets jumped out to an early lead for five runs in the first Wednesday and cruised to a 9-4 victory. The Mets entered the night having scored five or fewer runs in 22 straight games.

"Some great at-bats in the first inning," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "I just think there's a different attitude in the clubhouse."

First baseman Ike Davis broke out of a slump with two multi-hit performances in his last four games. Davis was stuck in a 4-for-53 skid entering Wednesday, Davis came up with a two-run single in the first inning.

"That's a five-star at-bat if you ask me. With guys in scoring position, that was huge," catcher John Buck said. "You can just see the quality of his at-bats literally the last week. They're completely different."

David Wright contributed a pair of runs Wednesday and is 5 for 11 with four runs in the three games against the Yankees this season. He's a .322 lifetime hitter against the Bronx Bombers.

Dillon Gree (2-6) looks to emerge from his own skid. He will look to pick up his first win since May 1 for the Mets. He has posted an 8.36 ERA over his last three starts, with opposing batters hitting .373 off of him.

The right-hander has surrendered three or more runs in seven of his 10 starts, including Saturday against Atlanta. Gee allowed five runs and eight hits in five innings of a 6-0 loss.

Vidal Nuno (1-1) will get the start for the Yankees. He currently holds a 1.93 ERA and has gotten just two runs of support during his two starts this season.

The rookie left-hander has been very good in both outings, yielding two runs and eight hits in 11 total innings. He didn't receive a decision at Tampa Bay on Saturday after giving up two runs in six innings of a 4-3 victory.
