Head coach Jason Garrett has received a lot of credit for the stark turnaround the Cowboys have experienced this season, and now he may get rewarded for his role in the improvement. Garrett's contract is set to expire at the season's end, and Jerry Jones is already planning his extension offer.

According to Fox Sports, Jerry Jones indicated that Garrett's new deal could be on the way very soon. "First of all, I was looking at his agreement the other day, and we're actually operating with the same agreement, same piece of paper that we were operating with about seven years ago," said Jones during a radio interview.

In the past, Jones has waited until the season ended before announcing extensions for his coaches. Thanks in part to Garrett's contributions, the season is still going on for the Cowboys, who travel to Lambeau Field this weekend for a showdown with the Green Bay Packers.

Jones went on to say that he is proud of how far Garrett has come as a head coach while leading the team. "To think of all the things and the ups and downs and the expenses and think of all the experiences he's had from a coaching perspective with players that have been learning experiences for him," said Jones. "It's daylight and dark."

If the Cowboys win on Sunday, Garrett would be the first head coach in team history to win two playoff games in his first trip to the postseason. The win will not come easy for Dallas, however, as Green Bay finished the regular season with a perfect home record. Still, Dallas finished with a perfect road record, which makes this the first time in NFL history that a team with a perfect home record has hosted a team with a perfect road record in the playoffs.
