NBA Draft 2013: Cleveland Cavaliers Trading No. 1 Pick For Kevin Love?

Sheridan Hoops is reporting the Cleveland Cavaliers are contemplating dealing the top pick in next month’s draft to the Minnesota Timberwolves for disgruntled forward Kevin Love.

Among the many proposals being thrown at team front office executives, the one that most seems to have caught their attention is the one centering around Love, still said to be less than thrilled with his situation in Minnesota and the team’s recent refusal to sign him to the five-year, max extension he once coveted.

Love instead inked a deal that allows him to opt out after the 2015 season, but not before making his bruised feelings known. “I was willing to make a commitment for five years; they thought otherwise,” he told Sheridan Hoops.

Minny’s loss could now be Cleveland’s gain, as Cavs management is more than intrigued with the idea of pairing the sharpshooting big with vastly rising point man Kyrie Irving.

In all, the Wolves have four picks (No. 9, 26, 52 and 59) in the top 60 this season and are rumored to be fielding calls and proposals from all across the league. Making matters all the dicier is the pending free agency of center Nikola Pekovic. Top team executives seemed spooked by the idea, no matter how remote, of losing both Love and Pekovic in the same summer.

But with the No. 1 pick could come Kentucky center Nerlens Noel, the projected top pick from the 2013 class.
