Afghanistan and Scotland travel to the United Arab Emirates face off in the first leg of a triangular series on Thursday, as both teams prepare for the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Ireland is the third team of the triangular series, and will face off against both Scotland and Afghanistan later in the week. The series is being presented in a double-league format, and each match carries an ODI status.

This will be Scotland and Afghanistan's seventh meeting in history. Afghanistan is 4-2 against their European foes in the previous six head-to-heads.

Scotland is happy to have Kyle Coetzer back. After a dominant 2013, the vaunted batsman missed significant time due to injury this spring and summer.
