The Los Angeles Galaxy have long been the marquee destination for high profile soccer stars. After years of showcasing Landon Donovan and David Beckham, the MLS' most recognizable franchise has landed another European star.

David Gerrard, of the EPL's Liverpool FC and the England national team, is set to join the Galaxy in July, per BBC Sports.

Transfer Coming For Liverpool's Gerrard

"I'm very excited to begin the next chapter of my career in the United States," said the 34-year-old. ""One of the reasons I chose [the Galaxy] was because of the success they've had recently. I want to add some medals and trophies to my collection."

Gerrard's arrival reunites him with current Galaxy Robbie Keane. Keane and Gerrard were teammates in Liverpool in 2008.

Gerrard Bidding Farewell to Liverpool

Gerrard scored 116 goals in a 17-year career with Liverpool.

"[Gerrard] is one of the most decorated players in the world and will join our team with a wealth of success playing at the highest level of the sport," said Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena. "Steven will be an excellent example to our young players and we're excited to add him and his leadership to an already-talented roster."

Gerrard even got a warm welcome from fellow Tinseltown athlete Kobe Bryant:
