The dream of continuing at the top-flight of European football has all but shattered for Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. According to the Telegraph, the 26-year-old will be sold by Manchester United upon returning from his season-long loan at Real Madrid.

Per the reports, the move will transpire even if manager Louis van Gaal decides against a £43.2 million deal for an on-loan Radamel Falcao.
The news, however, should come as no surprise.

Hernandez failed to impress in the opening weeks of United's 2014 campaign, culminating in an embarrassing 4-0 loss to MK Dons last August. The defeat eliminated the club from the League Cup. Not even scoring form was enough to save the Mexican international from criticism. The writing was on the wall. Hernandez never fit van Gaal's system.
"He scored a wonderful goal, prepared by Shinji Kagawa and also Darren Fletcher," the United boss said following a preseason 3-1 victory over Real (via Sky Sports). "But after that, he had to give the ball to Tom Cleverley, a back-pass, and he gave it to Kagawa. I think he wanted to thank Kagawa for the nice pass for the goal, but at that time, he needed to think about the team."
Hernandez will no longer have concern himself with the team moving forward. Already out of favor in Manchester and increasingly out of favor in Madrid, the time to seek minutes at lower-level clubs is now for the former Mexican icon.
