New York Jets owner Woody Johnson did the right thing in firing GM John Idzik after two laughably ineffective seasons with Gang Green. Idzik was a dismal judge of draft talent and sat on a mountain of cap space in the offseason when the team was sorely lacking at key skill positions.

What Johnson probably could not have foreseen, however, was how few other football minds are interested in the position. It's beginning to seem like Johnson can't even give the Jets GM job away.

According to recent reports from Deadspin.com, not just one, but four NFL executives have declined to be interviewed for the Jets' general manager vacancy. They include Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta, Vikings assistant GM George Pato, Saints director of player personnel Ryan Pace, and Chiefs' director of player personnel Chris Ballard. The DeCosta snub must have been particularly hard for the Jets to swallow, given that he was their top target for the position.

Things aren't actually as bleak as the situation seems, however. According to NJ.com, the Jets have found at least six individuals willing to be considered for the GM gig, including one in-house candidate in senior director of football administration Rod Graves.
