"Stuart Scott's courage came to the fore long before illness did."

That's according to Keith Olbermann, a fellow SportsCenter anchor and longtime friend of Scott's. Stuart Scott passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 49, after three separate battles with appendiceal cancer.

Trailblazing Anchor Dead at 49

Following this devastating news, many of Scott's colleagues and friends took to social media or television to unflaggingly testify to his spiritual strength and emotional resolve he displayed in combatting cancer. Clips of Scott's ESPYS speech were ubiquitous, in which the anchor famously said "When you die, that doesn't mean you lost to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live."

What Olbermann wanted to discuss on Monday, however, was a different but no less admirable side of Scott -- his grace and heroism in the workplace.

Colleagues Fondly Remember Stu Scott

Olbermann relayed three different anecdotes about Scott to his viewers. The first outlined how Scott deftly maneuvered his way around a corporate suit who objected to Scott injecting hip hop vernacular into SportsCenter broadcasts. The second highlighted Scott's display of principles during an ESPN labor dispute.

And the third, and perhaps most touching, praised the late anchor for his performance co-hosting a Paley Center event celebrating the network's 35th anniversary, despite only having 8 months to live by that point.
