Sting WWE Rumors: Steve Borden On Tonight's RAW? Backstage News On Possible Major WrestleMania 31 Angle

The WWE presents the first edition of Monday Night RAW tonight live from Corpus Christi, TX and there is a rumor that Steve "Sting" Borden may show up to kick-off a major WrestleMania 31 angle.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the WWE has been planning on starting a major WrestleMania angle on this week's edition of RAW since it is the first one of the New Year and Sting may just be appearing at the show.

While there is no official word of what angle the WWE will be looking to start, with The Authority returning on tonight's show there is a belief that Sting may come out and interrupt them at some point, though this should merely be taken as a rumor at this point.

At last word, there were still plans for a big angle to occur tonight, but there is no confirmation of it relating to Sting. Sting vs. Triple H has been rumored for WrestleMania 31 at Levi's Stadium on March 29 in California and as of late-December that was was still the plan.

Sting and Triple H's feud stems back to the Survivor Series in November.

With The Authority's power at stake, the traditional Team Cena vs. Team Authority elimination match came down to Seth Rollins on one side and Dolph Ziggler on the other when Triple H got involved and attacked Ziggler.

Sting then came out and had a stare down with Triple H until "The Game" lunged at him and Sting dropped him with the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting then placed Ziggler on top of Rollins, ensuring the win for Team Cena and that The Authority would lose its power.

That whole ending was reportedly done to set up a Triple H vs. Sting match at WrestleMania 31 and reports came soon after that Sting had signed a deal with the WWE to make six appearances, one which was used at Survivor Series.

There had been rumors that Sting would face The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but after 'Taker lost The Streak and was injured against current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX, his status for the Show of Shows is up in the air.

If The Undertaker -- who was rumored to face Sting last year until the WWE opted to put Lesnar in his path instead -- does come back, there are rumors he will face Bray Wyatt at Levi's Stadium.

Sting has said in interviews that he'd like to face The Undertaker at 'Mania even without The Streak on the line. He also said he'd also like to battle Triple H, which is the direction it seems the WWE is going.

The WWE may kick off 2015 with a big bang as Sting or another huge angle could be planned for the first RAW of the New Year tonight in Texas.
