UFC 182 came and went on Saturday night, with Jon "Bones" Jones defending his light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier. The MMA world's attention now shifts to UFC 183, which pits middleweights Nick Diaz and Anderson Silva against each other.

Silva Says He's Been Learning From Jon Jones

Silva is a career 33-6 inside the octagon, and held his middleweight title for over seven years. However, age and a ghastly broken leg injury in a bout versus Chris Weidman have conspired to knock the Spider down a peg. But now Silva's leg is surgically repaired and seems to be in full strength.

His opponent, Diaz, has publicly stated that he's not going to focus on attacking that leg in their fight, but we'll believe that when we see it.

Silva goes into the match the presumptive favorite, not only because of his household name recognition and career legacy, but also because he's taller and heavier than his opponent. It will be tough for Diaz to knock Silva out or take him to the mat on raw strength alone. His best hope of victory is to just pummel the older fighter with blows until a moment of vulnerability reveals itself.

If Spider does win this fight, don't be surprised if he uses it as an opportunity to walk away from the sport for good on a high note. Legacies are certainly at stake here.

Silva-Diaz's UFC 183 battle goes down on January 31 in Las Vegas.
