There have been a lot of mixed reactions to the announcement that former WWE Superstar CM Punk has joined UFC, but one positive comment for the "Best in the World" came from fighter "Cowboy" Donald Cerrone.

Cerrone spoke with MMAJunkie.com and touched on Punk joining UFC. Cerrone sighted that it could be good for the sport and even offered to help him train.

"My attitude with CM Punk is: good, why not? The guy did what he had to do," Cerrone said. "He's got money. He doesn't need to come to the UFC. So that's just like a challenge he's doing on his own. It's not like he's hurting and is like, 'Man, I need to find a new career.' He's like, 'No, I've made my life. I've done what I need to do. I'm going to come and try this.' I told him to come to the ranch. Bring that WWE money and come out and train with me".

Cerrone also touched on Punk's ability to fight and he said that similar to Brock Lesnar, he hopes that fans who supported Punk in the WWE will follow him over to the UFC to give the sport even more exposure.

"Who am I to say CM Punk can't fight? We've never seen the guy fight, never seen him train," he said. "I heard he's got good jiu-jitsu. Teach the guy - I don't know if you can do some of the wrestling moves he does in the WWE, but he might be. Come on. Why not? Bring that fan base. They sell out arenas every night, so why not bring that over? I think Brock coming over was great. CM Punk, yeah, come on with it. Put me on the same card as him."

Punk walked out of the WWE nearly a year ago in late-January on the night after the Royal Rumble and hasn't been back in the company since.

The "Best in the World" was mostly silent after walking out on the company until he appeared on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast in November to share his side of the story with the world.

Punk revealed that he was frustrated over the way the WWE was handling his head injury that he suffered at the Royal Rumble after a history of the company asking him to work hurt. Punk also said he was still upset with being "creatively stifled" in the organization.

Punk then shocked the world last month at UFC 181 when he announced with his wife and WWE Diva AJ Lee by his side that he has signed on with the UFC and will train for a fight later this year.

While Punk's announcement has received a lot of criticism from those in and outside the UFC realm, Cerrone supports the former WWE Champion leaving the squared circle for the Octagon.
