It's not often that NFL coaches with losing records transcend sports, but ousted coach Rex Ryan has done so in a unique manner.
Busted Coverage and Terez Owens reported that Rick's Cabaret, a gentlemen's club in New York City, issued a news release on Monday, the day that the New York Jets announced the dismissal of Ryan after six seasons and a 46-50 record - at least during the regular season; he was 4-2 in the playoffs.
Michael Vick calls out the New York Jets for not starting him sooner?
In the release, some of the establishment's strippers talk about how they feel about Ryan's release.
Busted Coverage reposted the release below: It's important to note that at least one of the dancers indicated that Ryan was not a customer (although some of his players allegedly were):
"We love the Jets and Rex was a very colorful guy," said Rick's Cabaret girl Kelly. "But let's face it, he had to go."
Rick's Cabaret NYC girl Justine agreed. "You can't lose all those games and keep your job, but we wish him well."
"It's tough," purred Rick's Cabaret NYC girl Katherine. "Rex Ryan has never been to Rick's Cabaret, so I don't know him personally, but I've met some of the Jets players, and I know they loved him. So, I feel bad for the guys."
Rick's Cabaret NYC girl Lindsay still supports Ryan. "It's not his fault. If he had a quarterback things would be different."
It's not the first time the establishment has been linked to Ryan, however. Totalprosports.com reported in August of 2013 that one of its dancers at the time, pleaded with the Jets head coach to give then-rookie quarterback Geno Smith another look as the starting quarterback:
"Dear Rex,
"Can you please give Geno Smith another chance? I know he messed up by throwing three INTs against the Giants, and yes, it was really bad when he stepped out of the end zone and gave up a safety, but it was the first time he ever started in an NFL game. He was nervous--I know I would be!
"A lot of the Rick's Cabaret Girls here like Mark Sanchez because they think he's cute. But that is not a good reason for him to be Quarterback for the New York Jets! I think Sanchez has had his chance the last four years (!) and he showed that he can't do it!
"Geno Smith is the future, Mark Sanchez is the past.
"Thank you for your consideration, and if you like my photos, you can come see me and over 100 beautiful exotic dancers in person at Rick's Cabaret. I promise you will have a good time.
Love,
Valentina"
