NFLPA Investigating Jay-Z's Roc Nation

Fresh off signing Jets rookie quarterback Geno smith, the NFLPA is now investigating Jay-A’s Roc Nation Sports Agency after receiving a flood of complaints from other agents.

After it was determined he couldn’t directly sign Smith, Jay-Z hired a certified NFLPA agent to close the deals. Still, many of his would-be competitors are crying foul.

According to Sports Business Daily, more specifically the NFLPA has asked CAA Sports about its relationship with the rapper turned business mogul as it relates to how they handle player representations.

“Of course we are aware of the new relationship between Roc Nation and CAA,” NFLPA assistant executive director for external affairs told George Atallah told Sports Business. “ We will be reaching out to all of the parties involved to get a better understanding of the nature of those relationships.”

Sports Business identified the agent hired by Roc Nation as Kim Miale, who will be representing Smith in all ensuing contract talks. Jay-Z recently sold his minority ownership in the Brooklyn Nets to launch Roc Nation.

Besides Smith, to date has inked deals with such sports world heavyweights as the Yankees Robinson Cano, the Giants Victor Cruz and recent WNBA first round draft pick Skylar Diggins.
