For Jets Nation, the Rex Ryan Era is ending not with a bang, but a whimper. A coach that arrived in the Big Apple with a big mouth, big gut, and big Super Bowl proclamations has been reduced to a man who has quietly packed his bags and is awaiting the executioner's ax.

Rex Ryan Says He'll Win a Super Bowl One Day

According to a report from NJ.com, the six-year head coach is so certain he's getting fired that he has already emptied out his office, even though the Jets are still prepping or Sunday's finale versus Miami. Ryan and general manager John Idzik are both expected to receive pink slips on the NFL's notorious "Black Monday."

"Ryan appears to have accepted the inevitable," the story reads.

Rex Ryan's tenure with the Jets has been rocky, but never boring. The team made back-to-back AFC Championship appearances in his first years on the job, but suffered through 8-8, 6-10, 8-8, and now 3-12 seasons, missing the playoffs each time. Ryan's staff was done-in by their inability to ever truly develop a quarterback, as both Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith struggled mightily throughout their time in green.

The Dolphins and Falcons are just two teams who are rumored to be interested in Ryan's services as a head coach next season. Ryan is also expected to be significantly in demand as a TV analyst should he want to pursue that route
