While Adrien "The Problem" Broner doesn't have anything lined up for his next fight, he's offered up plenty of big name options since defeating Emmanuel Taylor by unanimous decision on September 6.
The brash Broner has vacillated between several name fighters lately. Immediately before and after the Taylor fight Broner mentioned Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse as the right man for his next bout. Matthysse is a feared brawler, notching 34 of his 36 victories by knockout. Matthysse fought on the same card as Broner so that fight makes sense schedule-wise.
Broner then began making noise about a rematch with Marcos Maidana, the man who handed Broner the first and only loss of his career and rode that momentum to two fights vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Now though, Broner has turned his attention to Manny Pacquiao, who is in the midst of trying to make a fight vs. Mayweather happen. Prior to Pacquiao's latest win over WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri, there were rumors of a move down to 140 pounds. If a fight vs. Mayweather can't be made, Broner may be a big-money option for the Pacman.
Broner's won two straight since falling to Maidana against weaker competition. Pacquiao represents a major step up for "The Problem," but talking with ESNews he seemed unconcerned.
"I want Pacquiao. I'll kick his a**," Broner bragged. Every fight is tough so we can make it look easy," he said. "Critics are like a******s, everybody got one. A hater is a fan, they just don't know yet."
When the rumors of Pacquiao dropping to 140 were at their hottest, however, his trainer Freddie Roach was hopeful for a fight against the lineal junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia.
