The transfer saga of Cruzeiro's Lucas Silva has been extended an additional six months. In a recent interview with Radio Itatiaia (via Talk Sport), sporting director Alexandre Mattos mentioned comments made to Arsenal and Real Madrid. Both clubs will have to wait until the summer to land the midfielder.

"We've held four formal meetings to discuss the future of Lucas Silva, but I've spoken with Real Madrid representatives over ten times," Mattos said. "In principle, they are not intending to bring any players in during the winter transfer window and we have no urgency to sell Lucas."
The interview coincides with words uttered by Carlo Ancelotti.
Sergio Ramos' Agent in Contact With Arsenal for January Transfer
The Real Madrid boss remained adamant that no reinforcements were needed come January. His club, amid a 22-match unbeaten streak, has enough firepower to withstand three competitions.
"I am happy with the squad I have," Ancelotti said (via AS). "[Sami] Khedira had bad luck because he had a small problem [a concussion against Cornella], but Jese [Rodriguez] has recovered [after nine months out with a knee injury]."
"We do not need anybody in January."
The news bodes well for Silva. With a myriad of talented midfielders at his disposal, Ancelotti would be hard pressed to find room for an unproven commodity. Especially with the surging form a talismanic Isco has shown in recent weeks.
A full summer to assimilate to life outside of Brazil is necessary for a 21-year-old talent, not a quick test into the fires of season-ending football.
