Jim Harbaugh is a pretty intense man. He coaches with passion and his competitive streak is commonly expected to be unrivaled. But this story is pretty bizarre, even for him.

Is Harbaugh to Michigan a Done Deal?

According to a new report from The Michigan Daily, Harbaugh once smeared one of his own player's blood all over his face while coaching Stanford in 2007.

Per the story, Harbaugh told his players in an emotional pre-game speech that he wanted to play alongside them so badly “that he wanted their blood on him if they bled during that week’s game.”

Then, during the game, Stanford offensive lineman Chris Marinelli cut his arm on a play. When he retreated to the sidelines, Harbaugh supposedly wiped the blood from Marinell's arm and smeared it all over his own face, like tribal "war paint."

The Wolverines Want to Wish Jim Harbaugh A Happy Birthday

“[Harbaugh is] standing on the sideline with the offensive line, really jacked up, screaming, yelling, jumping around with blood smeared on his face,” said Chase Beeler, another Stanford player at the time who witnessed the event.

Motivation is a funny thing.
