The Miami Marlins acquired starting pitcher Dan Haren from the Los Angeles Dodgers along with Dee Gordon earlier this offseason at the Winter Meetings, but the veteran pitcher would rather retire or hope for a trade back to Southern California than to play in Miami in 2015.
Yankees Not Expected to Trade for Rockies SS Tory Tulowitzki
According to CBS Sports, Haren is "holding out hope" that the Marlins will trade him to a Southern California team like the active San Diego Padres or Los Angeles Angels.
Haren has no desire to pitch for the Marlins this season if it means being away from his family in SoCal, so it appears as though he will be heading toward retirement unless Miami works out some sort of deal to send him back to "The Golden State."

While Haren is hopeful for a reunion with the Angles -- he played with the Halos from 2010-12 -- or to be dealt to the Padres, it's doubtful either team will be in the market for him with several other starting options available to them.
Haren, 34, went 13-11 with a 4.02 ERA last season with the Dodgers in 186 innings over 32 starts and he factors as a back of the rotation type of arm at this stage in his career.
The right-hander was originally drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the 2002 MLB Draft and has had stints with the Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, Angels, Washington Nationals and Dodgers.
Haren is 142-122 in his career with a 3.77 ERA and 1,881 strikeouts, but he is 35-38 since 2012 with a 4.33 ERA.
Haren is a three-time All-Star and if he pitches this season, the Dodgers will pay the $10 million he is owed while if he opts to retire, the Marlins will get $10 million anyway.
