UFC announced on Saturday night that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson would be returning to the mixed marital arts organization after a sojourn in Bellator.

Jackson explained his thought process in a live interview during that night's Machida vs. Dollaway bout on Fox Sports 1.

"I haven't been happy with my contract at Bellator for awhile, since after the pay-per-view with King Mo," Jackson told the Fox broadcast team, per MMAFighting. "Bjorn Rebney, I don't know what happened. He left Bellator, got fired -- I don't know. The contract just wasn't right. My manager and I, we were trying to fix it. Bellator, they didn't want to fix it in 45 days. I terminated the contract."

Tito Ortiz's Next Fight?

Scott Coker, president of Bellator, disagreed. He took to Twitter over the weekend to imply that Jackson did not have legal standing to jump to UFC, and alluded to a potential upcoming legal battle over the fighter's services.

Jackson then countered with a tweet of his own, telling Coker to "shut up" and directing fans to an official statement on the website that bears his name.

Jackson finished his explanation by saying " I wish those guys [Bellator] the best but I'm where I belong." Jackson is expected to make his first return UFC fight in early 2015.
