The Detroit Lions used to play their games in the Pontiac Silverdome before moving to Ford Field. It was one of the most well-known stadiums in the entire NFL, and it was a popular venue for many events in addition to hosting all of the Lions games.

The Lions moved to Ford Field in 2002, and their former home was left abandoned. Once, the Silverdome played host to the Super Bowl, Wrestlemania, Led Zeppelin, and the pope. Now, according to the Daily Mail, the stadium has been left to rot.

The city has tried to use the Silverdome for other events now that the Lions no longer play there, but the events failed to draw big crowds. Triple Investment Properties bought the Silverdome in 2009, but their plans to use it for a soccer field never materialized.
