Washington Self-Destructing: RG3, DeSean Jackson Rip Teammates

On-and-off Redskins starter Robert Griffin III turned in a solid performance, completing 16-23 passes for 220 yards (though he did have one interception).

Washington has been an unmitigated disaster in 2014. Griffin has battled a slew of injuries and his mechanics have deteriorated, leading to a benching at the hands of head coach Jay Gruden a couple of weeks ago.

On ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown, RG3's ex-coach Mike Shanahan said he still believes that Griffin can succeed as a starter in the NFLl, but thinks it needs to begin with an improved work ethic.

“It takes a lot of work, a lot of studying," Shanahan said. "He’s going from a system where there’s a lot of play-action, a lot of screens out of college. [We] utilized a lot of those plays his rookie year, and then with injuries and adopting a new system, there’s a process that’s involved."

"I think he can be as good as he wants to be, but he has got to make a commitment there in that film room like he’s never done before.”
